With “Kunst Katapult” we will transform Berlin into a launching pad for artists of the former Eastern Bloc, for whom Berlin constitutes today the nearest and largest gateway to the rest of the art world, both for visibility as well as market size. Our venue right next to Checkpoint Charlie is a meaningful one, with “Kunst Katapult” acting as a medium to shoot above and beyond physical and cultural boundaries. Through curatorial work in neighbouring Czech Republic, we identified a small pool of relatively young artists, already experiencing success at home but who we think are ready to jump onto a bigger stage.
Klaudie Hlavatá Solo Exhibition
As it stands, we are considering a solo exhibition by Klaudie Hlavatá, whose work with poster-like layered multimaterial collages and newspaper cuts draws symbolic references to the Berlin Dadaist era and to the original function of the venue’s building, which already hosts world-class galleries, as Europe’s largest printing works (Zeitungsviertels Großdruckerei).
